Lions Quintet Qualifies for CACC Spring All-Academic Team

NEW HAVEN, CT- The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) has announced its All-Academic team for the 2010 spring athletic season. A total of 93 student-athletes among the 14 conference schools, including five Georgian Court University representatives, have earned a spot on the team this year.

The Lions' selections include: senior Alley Abbate (Soccer, Business Administration, 3.73 GPA), sophomore Devyn Flesch (Lacrosse, Accounting, 3.86 GPA), senior Chelsea Long (Softball, Exercise Science, 3.54 GPA); junior Jilian Pennington (Lacrosse, Nursing/Biology, 3.57 GPA) and senior Tracy Royle (Lacrosse, Natural Science, 3.82 GPA). 

A total of 27 student-athletes, including Abbate, Long and Pennington, have earned All-Academic status for the second time. Alley also was a two-time fall selection as a member of the GCU soccer team .

In order to be named to the CACC All-American team, recipients must have participated in a CACC Championship sport in the spring. They must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have been a student-athlete at their current school for at least two semesters, and achieve a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.50 or higher through the fall semester.
