Seven GCU Student-Athletes Inducted Into NJ Iota Chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma

LAKEWOOD, NJ- Georgian Court University athletics inducted seven student-athletes into the New Jersey Iota Chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma, Thursday evening. Earning selection into the prestigious class of 2010 were: Giovanna Cartagena (volleyball); Jessica Comiskey (softball); Natalie Grieci (tennis); Caitlyn Lawrence (tennis); Heather Miara (cross country/track & field); Tracy Royle (lacrosse) and Sandahl Schank (track & field).

The National College Athlete Honor Society was founded at DePauw University, Greencastle, Indiana, on May 17, 1996, as a student-athlete honor society for the recognition of high academic achievers and sport letter-winners at the collegiate level.
 
Chi Alpha Sigma was established to recognize college student athletes who earn a varsity letter in at least one sport while maintaining a 3.4 or higher cumulative GPA throughout their junior and senior years. The governing board represents all levels of competition in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
 
2009 inductees include: Alley Abbate (soccer/lacrosse); Patricia Foley (basketball); Kim Galvin (cross country); Amanda LaFrance (softball); Chelsea Long (softball); Oge Okeke (cross country/track & field) and Jilian Pennington (lacrosse).
