GCU Tennis Ends Regular Season with 6-3 Victory at Post University
CACC Tennis
WATERBURY, CT- The Georgian Court University tennis team ended the 2009 regular season on a high note Saturday afternoon with a 6-3 road victory at Post University (1-9, 0-6 CACC).

The Lions (5-9, 3-5 CACC) snapped a losing streak of five with the win while the Eagles have lost its last eight matches.

GCU, playing short-handed due to junior Brittany Aimone's season-ending shoulder injury, started the match with a 0-2 deficit after defaulting both a doubles and singles match. Freshman Victoria Gaffney defeated Post's Ashley Golelik (7-5, 6-3) in the #1 singles slot vacated by Aimone. Junior Natalie Grieci (6-2, 6-1) and sophomores Alexus McClintic (6-3, 6-0) and Sarah Lockenmeyer (6-1, 6-3) also triumphed in singles action.

Minus the defaulted match, the Lions swept the action on the court in doubles. The duo of McClintic and senior Caitlyn Lawrence defeated Post's Golelik and Diana Hayden (8-1). In the other match, Gaffney and Grieci dropped Kelsey Lengyel-Jocovich and Leah McQueeney, 8-2.

For the first time since the event's inception in 2005, Georgian Court has not qualified for the CACC Team Championship Tournment. However, they will participate in the CACC Individual Championship Tournament, commencing October 16th.
